Five Chicago Restaurants Team Up To Support Ovarian Cancer Awareness
Five remarkable Chicago restaurants have teamed up with the Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness Organization (OCSA) throughout the month of May in celebration of the nonprofit’s fifth anniversary. Throughout May, each restaurant will donate a percentage of the proceeds from certain menu items to OCSA in support of their efforts to spread ovarian cancer symptom awareness.
"The power of five can save lives," says executive director Vallie Szymanski. “My dear friend Didier Durand, chef and owner for Cyrano's Farm Kitchen and Cyrano's On the River, saw the value in educating his staff and clientele which led to OCSA's larger partnership with a group of independently-owned restaurants he is associated with, the Chicago Originals. Together, five restaurants will mark our fifth anniversary by donating a portion of their sales throughout this, the fifth month of the year."
Visit www.ChicagoOriginals.com to learn more about this group of independently-owned restaurants.
Restaurants participating in the dine-for-a-cause month include: Chicago-based Cyrano's Farm Kitchen, Cyrano's On the River, Kiki's Bistro, and Nando Milano Trattoria plus Oceanique in Evanston. Each restaurant will donate a portion of the proceeds from select menu items to OCSA. Details on Cyrano's Farm Kitchen and Oceanique below. Ovarian cancer is the 4th most common cause of cancer death among women in the U.S. Each year, over 20,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer and approximately 14,000 women die from the disease. There is an urgent need to share the silent symptoms so early detection and treatment are achieved, and lives are saved. When ovarian cancer is diagnosed and treated in its earliest stages, the survival rate is over 90%. For more information, visit www.ovariancancersymptomawareness.org
